John Fowler and I met during our formation to become new Members of the Iona Community.  He was a delight to meet, to get to know and journey together.  He was extraordinarily kind, generous and thoughtful.  He also worked on food issues (as did I) and had recently started working at Harper Adams, with which I was familiar.  It was lovely sharing that special time with him, fairly newly widowered, and to rejoice in his subsequent new love and marriage. What a faithful, nurturing husband he must have been. He went through bereavement again, as stoic as ever, and remained a cheerful and loving man.  I am sad not to have seen him much in recent years but am sure he would have continued to 'touch the hearts of all' in what became his final years.  Thank you for the opportunity to contribute here.  I am sorry I won't be able to attend on the 22nd Nov (hosting a big family lunch - of which John would have approved I think!).
